“It’s More Fun in the Philippines”… If your looking for an adventure outside the concrete jungle of Manila, consider Mt. Maynoba, which was just opened in 2016 for hiker. For those who are worried that they would be getting into a “Mountain Climbing” expedition that they wouldn’t be able to do, the trail difficulty can be done by most in reasonably good health. The trail difficulty is rated 3/10 and it can be hiked in 1 day.
Rizal is a province 45 kilometers (27 miles) outside of Manila. Because it is still rather new and not internationally known by backpackers and hikers, thrill seekers can still escape the crowds for an outdoor adventure. Mt. Maynoba (along with Mt. Cayabu) are both located in Tanay, Rizal.
What Will You See On Mt. Maynoba?
Mt. Maynoba and Mt. Cayabu are both moderately easy trekking expeditions that can be enjoyed by average skilled hikers / trekkers. You will see open grasslands, woodlands, vegetable gardens, and wildlife. As you trek up the mountain you will climb in elevation until you can see the beautiful Sierra Madre mountain range that has many mountainous peaks. You can stop and take pictures, for me the real treat was getting to see the 8 waterfalls and ultimately seeing the breathtaking “Sea of Clouds”. You can set down your backpack and cool off in the water and relax after trekking your way up Mt. Maynoba.
