My wife and I have spent the past 6 weeks in the Philippines to visit her family, hit the beach, and just hang out at some of our favorite nightlife entertainment spots. Tomorrow morning, we embark on an entirely new adventure. We are heading to Phnomn Penh, Cambodia which will be our first experience. We are really excited, because we are entering a culture that will be new to use. While it is a little scary, we are excited to embrace the new experiences that are headed our way. Please Like “Travel Without A Map”on Facebook to follow along on our adventures. We will be sharing our experiences from a “Newbie” perspective.. A guide from a first time Phnomn Penh traveler. We will share our mistakes (there will be many), our recommendations on Cambodian hotels, entertainment recommendations, etc… Sometimes it is easier to learn from the mistakes made by others. LOL.. So, please follow us on our journey and we hope that you enjoy.
Our Plans In Phnomn Penh, and Around Cambodia
Well, first of all we are heading right where the action is down by the Mekong Riverfront. We have the first three days booked at a hotel room that is within walking distance to a market and near a plethora of bars. We will party, eat new exotic foods, and immerse ourselves in the surrounding area.
We will be within walking distance of the Riverfront and one experience we want to do is take a ride on restaurant / boat down the Mekong River. We have read excellent reviews and are very excited about this experience. We have also heard that you can take a 4 hour boat ride that will take you to Siem Riep so we may be able to see some of the beautiful temples in that area.
The Tuol Seng Genocide Museum in Phnomn Penh
Another experience that we have planned on our itinerary is to visit the Genocide Museum, that we expect to be very enlightening and humbling. We have limited knowledge about Pol Pot, so we are very excited about learning about the tragic Holocaust that occurred during my lifetime! I have a feeling that I will walk away from this experience looking at life just a little differently. Please follow along our blog to read about our first time experience as well as recommendations that we may have for you.
While we want to enjoy the Museum’s, Temples, Cambodian food etc.. We also are a couple that enjoy the nightlife and even find the red light district area very interesting, considering they don’t really have these sorts of places in the U.S. While, we will really be there for the atmosphere, cold drinks, music entertainment, etc… it should be fun to add this experience to our memories that only international travelers can experience.
So, stay tuned on our adventures that lie ahead!
