Have you ever embarked on road trip that seemingly came out of nowhere? In a matter of 15 minutes (when we had no plans) we have decided to road trip from Missouri to Eureka Springs, Ar to Dallas, Texas, to Houston over the next 6 days. Sometimes spontaneous road trips can emerge from nowhere and if you love adventure you have to follow it’s lead rather than find reasons why it may not be “the right time”…
Spontaneous Road Trips Are The Best
If you follow our blog, my wife and I are travel bloggers who love to travel internationally.. I am from the U.S. and I met my wife Yulie (check out her blog Fly Into The World) in the Philippines on one of my journeys to this fantastic SE Asian country. We currently are here in the U.S. and suffering a little bit from “Travel Bug Syndrome”.. The next thing you know is, we depart on our 3 state spontaneous road trip beginning tomorrow! Be sure to Like “Travel Without A Map” on Facebook to stay up to date on our journey.
Eureka Springs to Dallas to Houston (What We Plan to Do)
Eureka Springs is a quaint little town that is a wonderful place to visit. It is only 50 miles outside of Branson in a beautiful area of Arkansas. We will be arriving on Fat Tuesday. We will be staying at The Basin Hotel, which is a fabulous, hotel in the middle of downtown. They celebrate Mardi Gras for more than two weeks straight! It will be that last day of Mardi Gras so we aren’t sure what to expect. Regardless, the town is known for it’s great architecture, haunted houses (The Crescent Hotel has been featured on Ghost Hunters), bars, music festivals and very welcoming (and open) people..
From Eureka Springs we will visit my sister and she will take us to some of the fun spots in Dallas. She has lived their for 20 years so we will leave our fate in her hands on where we end up.
After Dallas we will arrive in Houston. We have never lived there, but my dad mentioned taking us to the Nasa Space Center museum. That would be incredible. The next day we will rock out to Tesla and then enjoy downtown Houston.. We will make more blog posts so you can follow along in more detail.. Should be interesting!
Make A Road Trip On A Whim Is A Blast!
I was bored at home (dreaming about traveling abroad) and methodically browsing my Facebook feed.. I noticed that one of my favorite bands (Tesla) will be touring through my area. I then checked out the tour dates and saw that two of the shows will be in Houston and Dallas, which is where my Dad and sister live respectively.. Also, coincidentally tomorrow is “Fat Tuesday” so I searched for an area that celebrates this event that would be on the way.. This is where Eureka Springs fits in to the road trip equation…
So, after a little planning (very little) we booked a room at The Basin Hotel for a night of drinks and fun, then a few days of visiting with the family and then close it out with concert bash with one of my favorite bands. From having the “Travel Bug Blues” in February to feeling the adrenaline rush of another adventure in a matter of minutes. Sometimes an adventure doesn’t mean you have to travel to the other side of the world. Look around you and find adventures in your own backyard can be just as fun!
Be Sure To Follow Us On Our Adventures
Once again, we hope that you follow us on our adventure. We will be posting pics and updates so you can see how much fun an adventure can be when it’s spontaneous and you don’t have a strict itinerary. Soon we will be back to traveling around the world (Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, and possibly Cambodia) will be on our next extended travel adventure. Until then, a “spur of the moment” road trip is just what the doctor ordered!
