Confession….. Procrastination is in my DNA! I don’t just procrastinate about things I’m not looking forward to doing, I will put things aside that I’m looking forward to as well. I get comfortable with how things are, and staying within the boundaries of my comfort zone. There really isn’t anything wrong with spending time in your comfort zone, it’s the never stepping outside your comfort zone that may be holding you back from fulfillment of what inspires you. We all have things in our bucket list that we have always dreamed about doing one day. However, if we aren’t careful they will remain dreams until the day that we are knocking on heaven’s door, and full of regret. Don’t just think about what inspires you….. DO what inspires you!
Sometimes You Just Have To Jump Without A Net
When I decided to pursue international travel, I really didn’t know that I had a passion for it. I have traveled within the U.S. and have always enjoyed it, but I would never have considered it a PASSION. Maybe, because I never felt the nervous excitement that walking on foreign soil can give you. I had never been filled with curiosity about what was behind the next corner.
Probably the best thing I may have did was booking a flight to the other side of the world without totally thinking things through. I could probably have thought of a dozen reasons why it may have been “smarter” to put things off until my house was in order. Maybe if I waited until my house was paid off, I would financially be in a better position to pursue travel. Maybe, I should wait until after Christmas because of all the commitments that would be in store for me.. Maybe I should wait until my daughter finished college… Maybe, I should wait because……… (insert reason here)…….
Spontaneity is not an adjective that I would use if I were to describe myself. However, booking my plane ticket on a moment’s whim definitely was one of the most spontaneous moments of my life.. I forgot to even get travel insurance on my plane ticket! Maybe that was a good thing though, because I was locked in going through with this life changing venture. There would be no more excuses, there would be no backing out. What did I learn? Sometimes you just have to do it, without analyzing things from every possible direction. You can talk yourself out of anything if your not careful.
The Best Things In Life Are Those Thoughts That Put A Charge In To You
You know, when you get so psyched up about something that you can barely stand it. If one of your passion’s is left on the back burner or laying in the dusty “hope to do one day” file of your mind, your missing out on something that God has put in to you. We are here to pursue our passions because maybe that is what will lead us to why we were put here on this Earth.
Do you live by society norms because that is what is expected of you?
I’m not suggesting that anyone quit their day jobs to play street music in Memphis, but what is important to you is IMPORTANT. It is so important that you should make time to make your dreams a reality. Just do it! Try not to think about reasons why you should put it off (because there will always be one).. Think of reason’s why you should do it now! One great reason is that you may not be here tomorrow. It would be a shame if you never got to experience the joys in life that make your heart sing.
Follow Your Passion, Lead A Life That Makes You Grow
It doesn’t matter what your passion is. If you open your eyes and you can’t wait to jump out of your bed and get out to your garden to tend to your harvest, then do it… Make the best garden in your neighborhood, and maybe even feed the block! If you want to start food drive in a community in need of help, then check in to see what needs to be done. Each one of us has something that makes us feel alive and gives us a true purpose of why we are here. Tap in to what your passion is, and see what needs to be done to make it happen… and then….. make it happen!
It sounds simple, but it takes courage and heart. Only the concept is simple. Put one step forward before you think about the reason’s why you shouldn’t. With the first step you create an imprint. When you take the second step you have made a commitment.. When you are on your third step you have gained momentum, you are on your way to fulfillment.
